One quick note before we get into the recap. The IT Nerd noticed an minor issue with the Quota calculation upon entering the scores for this week. The short answer is that the “timestamp” functionality for Week 14 scores wasn’t functioning, so Week 14 scores weren’t factoring into the Quota calculation for Week 15. After reviewing them all by hand, only one match had its outcome substantively affected, but it does not affect the playoff picture. OK, on to the final week!

This is the point in the season where things start getting real! MAJOR matchups this week in TBO. Although its cross-flight, the #1 and #2 teams play each other and the #3 team plays #4. Fifth place team is also floating around potentially looking to steal one of those final playoff places.

The first place team of Mike Carroll-Ed-Mott-Moran came out of the gate gang-busters and averaged 7.7 pts out of 10 for the first 7 weeks, including a streak of 6 weeks with 8 pts or more. That’s 2.5 points per week higher than their nearest rivals. Mid-season blues have hit that team extremely hard, however. The last seven weeks have seen that team average 3.1 pts, putting them almost bottom of the league over that span. Can they pull out of the tailspin in time to make a playoff run?

The second place (DJ-Keeley-Fabulous-Joe) and third place (Donahue-Jon C-Reginald Denny-Burns) teams look more like a classic TBO-winning side: consistent performances week-in, week-out. Both teams are averaging just a little over 5 pts per week across the season. Historically, that has been the winning formula.

A quick reminder on three points:

1. Makeups – El Commish has given the league until the start of play on Week 13 (7/18) to have all make-ups completed by this time. If a match is not played by the deadline, it will go in the books as a 1-1 tie regardless of the backstory.
2. July 4th – There is no formal league play that night, so start talking with your opponent about playing that match
3. Quotas – Given that folks like to either play matches early/late and mid-week, its good to reiterate how the quota system works. It’s based on your last 6 matches played (each match has a timestamp on it) with highest and lowest scores thrown out. When El Commish prints out the scorecards, its based on the latest and greatest numbers. Given that we can’t recalculate the quotas in real-time, there will be a lag on when they update/refresh.
   • If someone plays a makeup early at say 3 pm, what’s printed on the cards can be assumed to be correct. However, when those players go to play their regular match at 5 pm, what’s printed on the cards can be assumed to not be correct. The quotas would be recalculated for the early match before entering the regular match for both players
   • If someone plays a makeup after at say 6 pm, what’s printed on the cards can be assumed to not be correct. Similar to the above, their quotas would be recalculated after the regular match at 4pm for both players.
   • If someone does a double match, what’s printed on the cards be assumed to be correct. It’s extremely important to note that a double match took place on the cards to avoid improper quota calculations.
