Gents,
The Final Standings to the 2013 TBO Season are now updated. Congrats to Hawk and Pasta Sauce Prucha for taking the title in convincing fashion. Before I get into some highlights from the year, there’s one thing to note…
Due to the rainouts, the Super 18 holes had to be constantly reshuffled. That reshuffling caused some glitches in the calculation of the Super 18 that I noticed at the end of the year. So let me be clear in this statement: I would publish holes each week that said “these are the Super 18 holes”. I merely corrected the formula to line up with what was communicated to all players. That being said, it only affected the winner in one flight: Flight 2.(check the final standings on the ‘Standings’ page)
That being said, on to the year in review!
A little history….League play was vastly improved in 2012 from 2011. From 2011 to 2012, the league on average showed a full stroke improvement (-1.05) per player. The biggest improvement in 2012 came from Tom Donegan, who shaved -10.71 strokes off his average from 2011. Who took a nose dive in 2012? Yours truly – I saw my average jump 5 stokes.
Now onto 2013…. The league on average added two strokes to their rounds (2.15). Whether it was the rain, the course conditions (who the hell aerates greens in July?!), whatever it might be, it was just an ugly, ugly year for TBO scores. Only 6 guys actually saw a decrease in their averages when compared to 2012: B. Thompson (-1.15), Jack Donegan (-.22), Steve Donegan (-.76), Dale Russell (-.35), Dan Keeley (-1.9) with the leader being Jim “Sandbagger” Morgan improving his sandbagging skills by shaving nearly two strokes off his average (-1.96).
And the ugly gets uglier…19 guys added AT LEAST 1 stroke to their averages, 17 added AT LEAST 2 strokes, and 12 guys added AT LEAST 3 strokes to their averages. But who added THE MOST? Bobby “Yeah Baby!” Zaleski added 7.71 strokes to his average this year. You can see how you faired in this comparison below when you see the last column.
Below are the final scoring averages for the league. While you can deduce who your partner would be next year, those pairings are subject to Commish approval. ]
