The first thing that jumped out at the IT Nerd was how close the standings actually are. There are 11 teams within 11 points of first place.

Merritt Daniels | Chris Donegan | Paul Daniels | 30 | (7.0) |
Connor Brown | Drew Prucha | Jon Carroll | 26 | (11.0) |
TJ Donegan | Matt Lochner | Mike Costello | 18 | (19.0) |
The team of TJ, Matt Lochner, Mike Costello are more than likely out of it being 19 points behind. This is due to two factors: Costello being a new guy and luck.
New golfers have typically struggled in their first year of TBO as they learn the course and have their initial quotas adjusted. This takes a few weeks and in that time, the losses mounted for Mike. As for TJ and Matt, they both have shot ok vs. their quota, but they have just run into too many buzzsaws. Both TJ and Matt are in the Top 5 of ‘Unluckiest Golfers’.
Back to the original point, the IT Nerd wondered: Is this the closest race at the mid-point since we switch formats? Let’s jump back in time to the standings after Week 10 with the eventual champions highlighted in yellow:
For those without patience, here’s the TL;DR: Yes, this is the closest its ever been. The team currently in 10th is 7 points out…Historically, 7 points out puts you around the Top 5 after Week 10.
