Took another look at performance vs. Quota. It’s a little late to implement this year, but certainly something that we might want to revist next year. In the past, we used to have a Handicap Ceiling. That meant that a HDCP could be no higher than a 12, per say…
What if we had a Quota Floor? A number that you could no go below in terms of Quota, regardless of play. Do the numbers bear it out to even implement one?
Here’s what the IT Nerd did…Took a look at everyone’s rounds so far this year. Take DJ Mahar for example. DJ doesn’t have an Eagle (yet) this year, but he gets a Birdie 1.9% of the time. He gets a Par 42.6% of the time, a Bogey 40.7% of the time and doesn’t score 14.8% of the time. Over the course of an average round, DJ scores 12 points based on these numbers. His average Quota this year is an 11.7, putting his average performance at a +0.3. Each individual is at the bottom of this post.
I took a look at implementing a Quota Floor of a 4 and a 5. A Quota Floor of 4 would only affect Bob Moran, Bill Kirkby and Bobby Zaleski. A Quota Floor of 5 would only add Art Brillanti into the mix. I excluded subs from this analysis, but they would also be affected.

When you look at these numbers, it looks like the Quota Floor of 4 doesn’t do enough. A Quota Floor of 5 is what is needed to balance it out. That begs the question: What if we had implemented a Quota Floor of 5 at the start of the year? How would that have impacted results?
Bobby Mo – One Win becomes a Tie, a seperate Tie becomes a Win
Bill K – A Win and a Tie turns to two Losses
Bobby Z – Two Ties become two Losses
Art – No impact on results
With results changing, whats the impact to the standings?? The first standings is what it looks like today, the second set of standings is what it would look like with a Quota Floor of 5.
