As you all can see, about half the league is in that 9-11 pts out range. While its not impossible to make a charge up the standings from those positions, its certainly a tall order given the timeframe left. That being said, let’s take a look at the three teams up at the top. We’ll start from the team in third and work our way up.
M. Carroll/Lochner/Antos
- M. Carroll – Good record, but let a few wins get away during the season. His record is a result of two different factors. First, his performance against his quota for the entire year is +6, putting him in the top 5 for that measure. The second factor is a little bit of luck. His opponents are -8 vs their quota for the year, putting him in the top 10 in that measure
- Lochner – Matt’s season can be summed up in two words: Back nine. Specifically, #10-12 where he’s averaging a double bogey. His record on the front is 5-1-1 and the back is 3-4. His average jumps almost two strokes from front to back as well. He’s getting middle of the pack in terms of being lucky, but underperforming vs. his quotas. Bottom line is that he is getting wins (8) and contributing.
- Antos – Like Mike, Gary’s record of 5-8 is a combination of his performance vs. quota and luck. Gary is the #2 underperforming golfer (-19 vs. Quota), but has taken advantage when his opponents shoot poorly (#6 luckiest golfer). If this team is going to make a charge, Gary will play a key role in this team rising to the top.
Jack/Tom Donegan/Gary Thompson
- Jack – Much like others towards the top, Jack has taken advantage of the luck he’s been given and played well (4th luckiest golfer). Jack is significantly better on the back than the front. With a nearly 3 stroke improvement on the back vs. the front and a 5-1 record on the back, Jack is a killer on that side of the course.
- Tom – As with Jack, Tom has also had luck on his side. He’s the second luckiest golfer with opponents shooting -28 vs. their quota. That’s an average of -2 per week! Tom is also struggling to meet his quotas each week (#5 underperforming golfer at -14 vs. quota). That puts Tom scoring an average of -1 per week. Last I checked, -1 is better than -2 and the name of the game is winning. Tom is certainly doing that with an 8-3-3 record.
- Gary Thompson – Gary has had the struggles to meet his quotas like Tom (tied for #3 underperforming at -15 vs. quota), but Gary hasn’t had the same luck that Tom has had.
Dickie/DJ/Bobby Moran
- Dickie – Dickie is listed as the #2 performing golfer (+10 vs. his quota). It should be no surprise that his team is near the top with that type of performance vs. quota. Can he keep this pace up for the final push of the season?
- DJ – Like Dickie, DJ is performing well vs. his quota (#9 over performing golfer with +3 vs. quota). He’s also benefiting from a little bit of luck (#6 luckiest golfer with opponents shooting -15 vs. quota). DJ is taking advantage of the opportunities presented to him by amassing a league-leading 9 wins.
- Bobby Moran – Bobby has had a little bit of bad luck. His opponents are shooting +2 vs. their quota putting him in the top 10 for unluckiest golfers. Bob’s middle of the road in terms of his performance vs. quota. If Bob can start to turn that luck around (or starting to buy beers for his opponents), he should be able to help the team over the finish line in first.
