As you all may remember, the IT Nerd did his best to project how the 2015 season would unfold before it began.

As much as I’d like to claim some form of psychic abilities, the preseason projections were way off…

• How did the pre-season pick of Jack, Sean and Joe finish? 10th! It was a tough year for Joe and Jack, finishing a combined 9-21-2. Compare that to the projection of 23-10-3.
• The eventual first and second place teams were picked to finish 10th and 12th, respectively.
• Only a few of the players picked to finish in the top 10 actually finished in the top 10.
• Likewise, only a few players picked to finish at the bottom 10 actually finished at the bottom.

There only seemed to be one spot where the IT Nerd NAILED the projections: Flight 2 Quota Performance.

After last nights make-up between Jon Carroll and Nick Wight, the final pairings are set. There are three teams that technically have a shot to win the title.

There is a laundry list of scenarios that could produce a variety of results. DJ/Jon/Antos need to get at a minimum 6 for a few scenarios, but really need to take all 7 to put themselves in the best position.

Even if Nick/Matt/Zaleski make up the point gap on Bill/Chris/Tom, they still could be leap-frogged by DJ/Jon/Antos if that team gets all 7. Nick/Matt/Zaleski just need to take care of business and get at least 5.5 pts from Bill/Chris/Tom.

Long story short – This title is Bill/Chris/Tom’s to lose…Looking forward to Thursday!!

Only two players are yet to record a double par: Pat Donahue (Flight 1) and Brian Thompson (Flight 2). Interesting progression on the double pars: Flight 2 has roughly twice as many double pars as Flight 1 and Flight 3 has roughly twice as many double pars as Flight 2.

 

League Scoring

Overall, the league has had a rough year. On average, the league has added 1.23 strokes to their averages. Roughly 20% of the league has seen their averages rise at least 4 strokes on 18 holes! At conclusion of Week 15, only 6 players have improved on their averages from 2014

1. Brian Thompson: Improved 18-hole average by 5.36 strokes. This vaults him from his Flight 2 spot to the tops of Flight 1
2. Dan Mahar: Improved 18-hole average by 4.11 strokes. This takes him from a mid Flight 3 to a mid Flight 2

Bill John’s game finally woke up and he’s been 4-0-1 in Weeks 10-15. Tom and Chris have also managed to keep their records slightly above .500 during that time as well. There is a cluster of teams sitting second through fifth that still have a shot. I’d even venture that the team in sixth has a shot, albeit a long one. As for the rest of us (7th-12th), we’re playing for pride going forward.

With the match of J. Carroll/D. Mahar to be played Tuesday, Jon’s team could leap into second place and make for an interesting update!

In order to make these last few weeks interesting, someone is going to have to put a stop to Bill, Chris and Tom’s run to the top. First up on that challenge in Week 16, Connor, Brian Thompson and Artie. Do the league a favor, fellas!
